Not sure which system or brand you have? No problem — just describe the problem. No technical knowledge required

Your smart home, working as one system.

Help setting up smart devices, fixing unreliable automations and connecting your existing systems. I do the work myself: remotely or at your home.

Remote session: 60 minutes for €89 incl. VAT.

The initial suitability check is free. If the request is outside the service scope, no paid session is booked. A paid session covers assessment and work — a successful repair is not guaranteed.

Home Assistant · local, no cloud

Recognisable situations

Why smart devices in Dutch homes so often fall short

Rarely the devices themselves. Almost always the communication between them, the wifi, or an update nobody saw coming.

Thick concrete floors & walls

Signals do not travel through concrete, so the hallway light does not switch on and the sensor does not see you.

Approach

Measure placement and mesh coverage instead of guessing: repeaters where they actually help.

Five separate apps on your phone

Every manufacturer wants its own app, account and cloud — and none of them knows about the others.

Approach

One central layer on top of the devices you own, with the original apps as a fallback.

Broken after a firmware update

An update renames an entity or rotates a token, and your routine stops without telling anyone.

Approach

A configuration you can restore, with backups and a short note on how to roll back yourself.

No time for hobby forums

Hours of searching threads and outdated guides is not how you want to spend your time.

Approach

Targeted diagnosis in one session, with a written summary of what changed.

What I do

Clear services, clear scope

Four kinds of work, each with a bounded brief. Anything outside it is named up front — never invoiced afterwards.

Your accounts · your configuration

Service 01

Smart device setup

Plugging it in is rarely enough: groups, rooms, names and routines have to line up to be useful.

  • Configuration of devices you already own
  • Smart groups, scenes and daily routines
  • Wifi and Zigbee coverage measured

Existing wiring and the fuse board stay out of scope.

Service 02

Troubleshooting & diagnosis

From “sometimes it does not respond” to a routine frozen after an update: cause first, then fix.

  • Pre-screened to see whether remote work fits
  • Diagnosis and repair within the session
  • A short written summary afterwards

Paid time covers the assessment and the work performed. A successful repair is not guaranteed; during the session you hear what is and is not achievable.

Service 03

Integration across brands

Hue, Tado, Sonos and sensors that should form one home instead of four islands.

  • Linking brands and platforms together
  • Shared scenes and logic
  • Written record of what was linked and why

Physical controls keep working; nothing depends on a phone alone.

Personal commitment

Andrey S.

Independent smart-home specialist & software developer

I build software, networks and automation, and I run all of it in my own home. Smart homes rarely fail because the devices are bad; they fail because the devices do not talk to each other. My approach: down to earth, honest, and without subscriptions you do not need.

Availability
Remote sessions and on-site visits. Response to an enquiry: normally within 2 calendar days. No emergency service and no 24/7 monitoring.

My own home

Personal demonstration

My own home, as an example

What follows actually runs in my own home — limitations included. I only recommend what I have built myself and where I know the limits.

Problem
Lights, sensors and dimmers lived in two places: the Hue Bridge and a separate Zigbee network. Automations were slow or did not run at all, and Apple Home lagged behind reality.
Devices
Hue spots, LED strips, motion sensors and dimmers on Zigbee2MQTT · Hue Bridge kept only for the back garden · Home Assistant as the hub · HomeKit Bridge to Apple Home.
Solution
Lights and sensors moved to a single local Zigbee network, the Hue Bridge deliberately left in place where it was genuinely needed, and the same entities passed to Apple Home through the HomeKit Bridge so Siri and the Home app keep working.
Limitations
No work on fixed wiring. Devices that only work through their own cloud stay that way. I test new devices for compatibility before promising anything, and not every Matter/Thread combination is usable.

  • Philips Hue
  • IKEA Home smart — DIRIGERA and TRÅDFRI

  • Apple Home
  • Homey
  • Home Assistant

  • Honeywell Home / Resideo
  • Toon by Eneco
  • HomeWizard Energy

Tell me which devices you have — or simply describe the problem. Compatibility, scope and suitability are confirmed before booking.

Frequently asked

Clear answers up front

Do I need Home Assistant?

No. Home Assistant is one option, not a requirement. If your device app already meets your need, I leave it at that.

What if my problem cannot be fixed?

The initial suitability check is free. If the request is outside the service scope, no paid session is booked. If you do book a paid session, the fee covers the assessment and the work performed; a successful repair is not guaranteed. If something turns out to be beyond what I can do, I say so and refer you on. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

Do you work on the consumer unit?

No. Work on the consumer unit, fixed wiring and gas is out of scope; that is a job for a certified installer.

Which languages are supported?

Dutch and English. The site is available in both; I confirm the language of a technical session before booking.

What about privacy and access?

Never send passwords, tokens or backups through the form. I arrange access during the session, and you change your passwords yourself after handover.

No obligation

Tell me what you need

No commitments and no payment request. Describe your situation and you will get an honest answer with a fitting proposal.

Do not send sensitive details

No passwords, access codes, tokens, backups, camera footage or sensitive household details. There is no file upload and no credentials are requested.

Describe in plain words what goes wrong or what you want to achieve. Please do not include passwords or access tokens.

I use your details only to handle your request. See the privacy statement. Never send passwords, tokens, backups or camera footage.
